Singapore owes its success to Pinoys and foreigners

This appears to be the message that foreigners are trying to tell the Sinkies. Never mind who planted this message in their heads. I chanced upon this Pinoy, Nathan Allen, writing this to his countrymen in response to a hate post by a Sinkie.

‘It kills me that Filipino workers are being treated with so much disrespect - even though for decades they have helped Singapore become the economic powerhouse that it is today. Reportedly, even the nationalists who fought for independence and helped build the Singapore we know today were influenced by the national hero of the Philippines - Dr. Jose Rizal.’

I am not blaming Nathan Allen for thinking so, that Singapore owes its success to the foreigners here for turning it into an economic powerhouse in the last decades. The assumptions here must be that the foreigners are very talented and without them Singapore would not be what it is today. If this is true, the same foreigners, with their talent and hardworking nature, must also have turned their own countries into economic powerhouses as well. This is straight forward logic. If they can make Singapore a power house, they must also be able to do the same to their poor and 3rd World countries.

The truth is that they are mostly the third or fourth rate talents of their countries. The top talents of their respective countries are doing very well at home as their elites, and there is no need for them to leave their countries to eke a living elsewhere. Many of the foreigners that are here are those that could not find decent jobs at home, not good enough. Shouldn’t they be grateful that Sin City found them so good to give them good jobs and good pay? Or maybe Sinkies are so untalented that these third and fourth rate foreigners are better than them and could easily find employment here than Sinkies?

Another strange phenomenon is that the top talents of these foreigners remained in their home countries but could not turn their countries into economic powerhouses. How could these third and fourth rate talents managed to turn Sin City into an economic powerhouse? Maybe these third and fourth rate talents are the real talents of their countries and if they were given a chance to replace their top talents at home, they could turn their countries into economic powerhouses just like they did for Sin City.

Do I sound logical? Why are these foreign talents so able to turn Sin City into an economic powerhouse while their countries remained as struggling economies, economic slum houses? What is the problem? My logic is flawed? Third and fourth rate talents could turn Sin City into economic power house but their first and second rate talents at home could not do the same to their countries?

Funny logic? Or 3rd World third and fourth rate talent’s logic?

Nathan is right. Singapore's progress was entirely built upon Filipino & Filipina's sole contribution. Especially the Filipinas. Without the hundreds of thousands of Filipina maids, how can the Singaporean men and women go to work? How can Ah Boys do NS when there are no maids to carry their back-packs? How can boy boy and girl girl go to kindergarten and schools without their maids carrying their school bags? How can the buildings be put up without the Filipino construction workers, draftsmen and architects?

Yes, now I see why their Independence Day is our Independence Day. And why they say we are inter-dependent. Maybe they should just boycott the ungrateful Singaporeans by pulling out ALL their people from Singapore.

Yes, your maid washes all your dirty clothes, look after your homes, old folks etc. But be prepared now and then to see some tell tale stains on your bed!

Economic powerhouses do not tolerate corruption. That country has the wherewithal to be an economic powerhouse but unfortunately it is so corrupted that 3rd and 4th rate talents have got no choice but to seek a living elsewhere.

If Sin city were to repatriate all these Pinoys, followed by the Middle East and other economic power houses like Hong Kong and Taiwan, that country would collapse like a house of cards. Other than bananas, their sole foreign income source is from earnings of their exported unemployment.

They have got thousands of islands, some uninhabited. Wanna buy one the size of Sin city? No problem, just cough up the money!

See what I mean?

Don't forget that many Singaporean children are raised by the maids!

The building of a nation involves the effort of everyone.

So who really founded Singapore?

Lee Kuan Yew or

Actually hor.
It was Stamford Raffles Lee Kuan Yew back in 1819.

S'pore heaviest competition 2016:

S'pore elected president brought in the heaviest competition from S'pore best?

Previously EP mostly walkovers and command $5 Million salary?

Latest EP, with a few disqualified, who don't meet the criteria of heading large entities?

Tony Tan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Tan

Scrap through the EP with only 0.34 percent, over Tan Cheng Bock the courtesy of 2 more opposing voices divided opp votes.

Massive Main Stream Media support, massive association support and ruling party endorsement?
Declined to be PM let GCT become PM? Born into a family of bankers.

Opp voices won 64 percent, all the 3 had the potential to be PM?

Tan Cheng Bock:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tan_Cheng_Bock

Only losing 0.34 percent to Tony Tan, head a successful listed company, average around 80pc in his 5 MP outings, highest percent of the ruling party candidate with 88 pc?

Suggested S'pore need more oppositions, was officially uninvited to the ruling party annual function?

Tan Cheng Bock and top commentator Catherine Lim, advised the govt to restore the trust by returning people CPF at 55 as promised?

Come 2016 GE the parliamentary seats, likely to be divided by numerous parties like the western democracy of around 5 major parties or more, as higher and higher quality candidates keep coming into the opposition parties?

Many ideas and diverse view came into the mature parliament with diverse parties? Heavy competition brought out Singapore best.

The EP saw the EP salaries drop from around $5 millions with previously little competitions with only govt controlled medias, now the around $1 plus millions?

With the massive, high level competition from opposition in 2016 GE, the ruling party pay and seats could drop drastically, then now it is around ten times the salaries of Denmark , Swiss and New Zealand ldrs?

With so many good candidates coming to the oppositions, the questions is how much votes and seats going to the oppositions, how much their salaries is the highest in the world ?

What type of changes in 2016, now much the ruling party expenditures to be reduce, how it go to help the low wages workers, boost the birthrate and standard of living?

All these need to show result not just continue to talk and give excuses?

Which one of them produce better ideas from opp, how to transform from foreign investment reliance to bring the small and medium companies, branding, designing & innovative premium products to the world?

If there is more then 10 percent votes swing in all the parliamentary seats due to CPF locked up of people life time savings of CPF?

Which the shocked unexpected defeat in Punggol East BE?

Now oppositions bringing in better and better quality candidates, start visiting doors to doors earlier like WP Lee Li Lian knock on every doors?

Only at the polling station then reveal the candidates name fearing the MSM might run them down, asking electorates to votes the opp, so that the ruling party can work harder to get back the CONt., vote one opp get two MP to work for you?

A 10 percent swing in votes like the PE by Elect. could left the ruling party with only 32 seats and could be the minor party as more and more high caliber and well qualified opp individual coming in by the days, 69.33% of Ang Mo Kio GRC 6 members, 5 members Jurong GRC 66.96, Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC 6members, Sembawang GRC 63.9 5members,West Coast GRC 5 members 66.57%?

Many of the ministers could out of jobs, like the former foreign minister George Yeo work in Hong Kong now?

Bt Panjang SMC 66.27, Hong Kah North SMC 70.61, Radin Mas SMC 67.10 Whampoa SMC 66.10 Yuhua SMC 66.86? Left the ruling party with only 36 percent of the seats?

As in Punggol East, the more new immigrants continue to switch side to opp, fearing their CPF locked up for life, additional 30K new immigrants and rising cost of living?

Anonymous said...

The 10 percent swing in votes as in the Punggol East could happen in the GE 2016 due to the rapid penetration of the mobile internet, where now lesser people using the Main Stream Media?

Which likely cost by the CPF locked up scheme?

Which could left the ruling party with only 32 seats or 36 percent of the seats?

The opposition could become the govt with 74 percent of the seats or 55 seats?

Due to the change in support from the ruling party to the opp, as better candidate and more unity among the opp?

People now felt the highest talents came from each different parties?

THE SINGAPORE MULTI PARTY SYSTEM PARLIAMENT:

The 10 percent swing in votes as in the Punggol East could happen in the GE 2016 due to the rapid penetration of the mobile internet, where now lesser people using the Main Stream Media which govt control ?

Which likely cost by the CPF locked up scheme?

Which could left the ruling party with only 32 seats or 36 percent of the seats?

The opposition could become the govt with 74 percent of the seats or 55 seats?

Due to the voters change in support from the ruling party to the opp, as better candidates and more unity among the opp? More high caliber individuals are coming forward to join the opposition?

They felt that now opposition chance are highest to win in the election 2016?

People now felt the highest talents able be recognized rather from a single party system came from each different parties system?https://www.facebook.com/kbinderjit/posts/598891680137569

These can bring the ideas and proposals more from multi parties rather then single party rules, which using their party whip?

More chances to bring out ideas and proposal in a mult parties system, rather then a single party system which many MP take a part job but get full time pay?

The probably left with little energy after their full time job?

More opposition voices likely to be heard in a multi parties system?

Lower wage gaps, massive support bring small and medium companies to the world the the obsolete depend on foreign low end multinational low productive workers?

Hi Raymond, don't be an idiot. I don't normally call a person an idiot but I have to say so when you are concerned. You just want to put yourself up as a smart ass by putting others down, that my logic was flawed as your first salvo and think you can get away with it.

Please grow up and read more about history of the world. The USA is an accidental country and prospered by the blood, sweat and tears of the pioneers that built that country for them.

Can you understand what I mean by blood, sweat and tears? This is not a figure of speech but is the hard truth of American history and how America became rich.

The blood was the blood of 70m to 100m Red Indians that were massacred by the White men who robbed them of their land, a whole continent became free land to the White European settlers.

The sweat were the sweat of black African slaves that toiled the fields to feed their White masters and provided them all the human comfort and convenience.

The tears were the tears of Chinamen slave workers who built the roads and railways for free and subsequently oppressed from pursuing their right to a better life like any human beings.

It was from them, from the blood, sweat and tears of those people that White Americans became rich, the people that built the foundation of a rich America.

Today you are only seeing the facade of a rich and powerful America, beautiful and generous. You need to look deeper to know how it all started.

You are so superficial.

2016 GENERAL ELECTION?

With the opposition possibly take over the govt, ten percent swing in votes, many of the high pay ministers could gone, which the are pay ten times their counter parts in the some of the countries advanced economies with around the same population?

Due to the CPF locked up scheme for life?

Some the multi millionaires minister could look for jobs in other part of the world like the George Yeo?

Maybe start they own business or could look for the multi national companies around the world?

Still no bad only country in the world that pay them muti million dollars?

The elected president pay drop from around 5 million 8 month bonus had reduced to 1 plus millions? 3 more massive competition from opposing voices, previously lack of competitions?

This is good for the population, as more tax payer money were save to give people the hard earned, blood sweat and tear money CPF?

And more cost efficient to run the govt, less indirect taxes like CPF, COE, ERP, GST, Levies and other indirect taxes?

Singapore have possibly the highest indirect taxes but not the direct taxes, overall possibly still the highest taxes?

Other expenditures like to be reduce after 2016 if the opposition were elected?

The ministers pay likely to be reduce comparable to the pay of some advanced countries ministers around $200K?

So Singapore can run cost efficient, $200K huge is huge by any standard?

As many saving in govt expenditure go to developing the Singapore Small and Medium size companies, so that Singapore don't need to rely on foreign companies so much?

The lowest Singapore foreign workers pay only $450 per month, $5.4K per year?

2016 ELECtiON:

Likely the historical year for S'pore like the highest talent in the country compete for the Elected President and after it?

Tony Tan who rejected the Prime Minister post previously, which given to GCT, just merely scrapped through with only 0.34 percent better then rival TCB, subsequently with the EP pay drop drastically due to heavy commpetition?

2016 with massive competition, a 10 percent swing in votes, could see 55 seats or 74 percent of the seats went to the oppositions?

Only 32 seats of the ruling party with 10 percent of more winning margin or 36 percent of the seat?
Almost similar to Tony Tan 35 percent win?

It is likely they drastically reduce the pay, so that the savings and expenditure, support local Small and Medium size companies expand and develop their companies oversea exporting drive?

It could be around the Singapore ministers pay reduce to $300K compare to the danish, Swiss and New Zealand ministers? Due to heavy competition from the opposition?

How the form a coalition party to run the govt. possible each party negotiate to bring in their candidate to be ministers like the western democracies?

The past of depend on low productive foreigners workers could reduced or low productive foreign investment?

Still very high compare to the $5400 foreign workers pay?

With the mobile internet, one day maybe given almost free to the old and less educated it might happen sooner?

MASSIVE STIMULUS TO DEVELOP SINGAPORE SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE COMPANIES:

So the next stage is to find consultants to develop the SME to the next level to be brand name like the Apple, Toyota, Rolex or Ikea that can get highly margin?

Singapore move into service industry tourists arrival from 8 millions to 15 millions the next target is develop to 20 millions tourist arrival and increase their spending and stay?

Singapore know that it is no longer a low cost investment destination, like in the past, as cost kept rising?

S'pore now had more $350 billions of reserve much better then when it was in the 60s and 70s?

With so much reserve it now can't depend of foreign investments?

A study of those highly successfully small countries, much effort were put into the school to foster youth to be creative and innovative and designing better products?

Many of the Nordic depend on the local to spearhead the countries high success companies world wide?

It is better to rely on its own home grown industries then foreign investment that would move away to cheap cost destinations?

Foreign investment would move away easily but not local companies?

When foreign companies move away much job lost?

The foreign companies margin low so local cleaners for years pay around $800 for the past ten years, possibly negative wages grow after inflation?

$350 billions to pump into develop the local research and development capabilities, to bring Singapore to the next phrase of development to be an advanced nation?

No chinese nation is recognise as an advance nation China with 5 thosand years of history, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan, S'pore used to be the most promising but the GRC system cause it to set back as little alternative or opposition competitive ideas coming in, this could change in 2016 GE?

Chinese Exclusion Act
The Chinese Exclusion Act was a United States federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. It was one of the most significant restrictions on free immigration in US history, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers. The act followed revisions made in 1880 to the US-China Burlingame Treaty of 1868, revisions that allowed the US to suspend Chinese immigration. The act was initially intended to last for 10 years, but was renewed in 1892 and made permanent in 1902. It was finally repealed by the Magnuson Act on December 17, 1943.

How ameicans treated the Chinese in those days

The first significant Chinese immigration to America began with the California Gold Rush of 1848-1855 and continued with subsequent large labor projects, such as the building of the First Transcontinental Railroad. During the early stages of the gold rush, when surface gold was plentiful, the Chinese were tolerated, if not well received.[1] As gold became harder to find and competition increased, animosity toward the Chinese and other foreigners increased. After being forcibly driven from the mines, most Chinese settled in enclaves in cities, mainly San Francisco, and took up low end wage labor such as restaurant and laundry work

Anonymous said...

With the post Civil War economy in decline by the 1870s, anti-Chinese animosity became politicized by labor leader Denis Kearney and his Workingman's Party[2] as well as by California Governor John Bigler, both of whom blamed Chinese "coolies" for depressed wage levels.

Anonymous said...

For the first time, Federal law proscribed entry of an ethnic working group on the premise that it endangered the good order of certain localities. The Act excluded Chinese "skilled and unskilled laborers and Chinese employed in mining" from entering the country for ten years under penalty of imprisonment and deportation.

Anonymous said...

Later, the Immigration Act of 1924 restricted immigration even further, excluding all classes of Chinese immigrants and extending restrictions to other Asian immigrant groups.[9] Until these restrictions were relaxed in the middle of the twentieth century, Chinese immigrants were forced to live a life apart, and to build a society in which they could survive on their own (Chinatown).[9]

And Furthermore, the Chinese Exclusion Act did not address the problems that whites were facing; in fact, the Chinese were quickly and eagerly replaced by the Japanese, who assumed the role of the Chinese in society. Unlike the Chinese, some Japanese were even able to climb the rungs of society by setting up businesses or becoming truck farmers.[18] However, the Japanese were later targeted in the National Origins Act of 1924, which banned immigration from east Asia entirely.

Even today, although all its constituent sections have long been repealed, Chapter 7 of Title 8 of the United States Code is headed "Exclusion of Chinese."[23] It is the only chapter of the 15 chapters in Title 8 (Aliens and Nationality) that is completely focused on a specific nationality or ethnic group.

On June 18, 2012, the United States House of Representatives passed a resolution introduced by Congresswoman Judy Chu, that formally expresses the regret of the House of Representatives for the Chinese Exclusion Act, which imposed almost total restrictions on Chinese immigration and naturalization and denied Chinese-Americans basic freedoms because of their ethnicity.[24] The resolution had been approved by the U.S. Senate in October 2011

Since long ago, politicians love to create tension or sow discord between foreigners and locals to advance their political advantage. The real enemy to this tension is very bad planning from the gov (6.9m white paper). For example,
the real problem to housing affordability was very bad planning fro MND, restrictions on land supply, and pr ownership of hdb.

It is never the foreigners against locals. It is all along the politicians against the people (whether foreigner or locals), the rich against the poor, the haves against the have-nots.
