CPF Protest Rally at Hong Lim Park

There were no 10,000 crowd, but not 200 supporters either. About 5,000 t0 6,000 people were at Hong Lim to support Roy and Hui Hui in this protest asking the Govt to Return Our CPF money. Many well wishers were there with cash to donate to Roy but could not find a donation box. The organisers were told that no donation box was allowed. But somehow the money still found their way to Roy and Hui Hui who had came out with her own money to erect the tents and sound system.

The speakers, Tan Kin Lian, KJ Jeyaretnam, Ariffin Sha, Vincent Wijeysingha, Leong Sze Hian, Hui Hui and Roy took the stage. Chee Soon Juan's message was read out by Ariffin as he was away. The crowd was appreciative and cheered their hero in Roy Ngerng.

Below are some of the photos I took which would give a better feel of what happened yesterday.

The top 4 pics were the speakers followed by some pics on the messages that were carried around by the supporters of the event. The bottom few pics were the crowd and the last pic, strolling back home after the rally.

Wow. Quite a big crowd.

So is LHL worried?

Maybe not, if he knows the 60% and the Sinkie opposition (in their current state) well.

Unless a Sinkie opposition leader announce that his party is ready to contest 100% seats next GE.

Only then will LHL not only worried, but he and the whole PAP will tremble.

Actually hor, the opposition rallies during GE, especially those of the WP, also got very big crowd what. Even much bigger than the one at HLP rally yesterday.

But how come WP did not win all the seats it contested? And they did not even contest 100% seats, only about 30% seats only.

I notice amongst the crowd, majority above 40s and very few of those in their 30s or below. So what does this mean.

Aiya, very simple lah, those 30s or below still got 25 years or more before they can collect CPF what.

So where got affect them at all, now or in the near future?

So as typical Sinkies, if don't affect them, of course they bochap (don't care) lah.

60% Sinkies are also not affected by PAP policies what. In fact they may even have a good life under PAP. So of course they also bochap opposition lah.

This time there were more youngsters attending compared to PWP.

Ok, those who missed this one, another followup rally on 12 Jul. Make sure this time you save up for bus fare to attend.

Hui Hui asked everyone to bring 2 friends to make a show of force.

Aiya.Very simple lah.Gongkia oso know why. Those below 30 know very well that if their father take out all cpf at 55,they will tend to go Batam or Hailam Thor, give money to younger mei mei and left nothing for them in the end.
Betterer to continue to support minimum sum and let their father take out cpf bit by bit and best at 80.By that time their father can no longer stand properly so no risk of them spending their money on mei mei. This will result in their money fully parted to them.Younger Sinkies are not daft ok?
So why Kacheow CPF as younger Sinkies have no problem paying 20%?
When many are at HLP ,'worry' about future generation, more younger Sinkies are found hanging at Orchard Tower ,Chinatown and car showroom, more concern about which country to go holiday and what car to buy.
Only people like uncle above 40 will be busy yelling and taking photo at HLP.

Quite a good turnout for Hong Lim. However, the crowd, some say around 6000, was made up of the old and middle age Singaporeans. The younger ones are not so interested. Why? Well maybe retirement for them is too far in the future. Who knows what the future holds for them? When it is time for them to retire Singapore could be governed by another lot of ministers who would have different agendas. I do not blame the younger Singaporeans for not showing interest in Hong Lim yesterday.

This CPF discontent would not go away. The government thinks that it is good for the people and those who feel cheated should either move to another country or just bite their tongues and swallow the bitter pill. You have been nannied for so many years, just have to be nannied for the rest of you lives. Tough.

Half the Speakers were below 30, Roy Ngerng, Han Hui Hui, Ariffin Sha and Tyisha. The Last Two are 17 yr old and below.
Great to have these youngsters playing big roles in organizing and even speaking under the mentorships of veterans like Leong Sze Hian, Gilbert Goh, Robert Teh and also getting to see and hear politicians and lawyers doing their eloquent speeches
There is also a very dedicated MC Kuan, who became just a spectator yesterday. He is a most experienced MC at Hong Lim Park.

The Turn up of participants on the 7th was very encouraging and hopely, the Next One in July should see more participants. At least, I do expect some of Ariffin and Tyeisha's school mates to turn up. Students in other secondary to tertiary levels should also turn up to see for themselves that student too can play very important nation building role. And not only are their parents, kins and clans are affected by policies, they themselves are just affected. Students are affected by any changes make to education system, public ttansport fares and even school fees.

Those who were at Hong Lim Park yesterday had a meaningful time witnessing for themselves the vigours of the Youths in action.

LET US GIVE THEM SUPPORTS FOR THEM TO HELP US GET SOCIAL JUSTICE.

Kudos to All at Hong Lim Park on the 7th June 2014.

Nice to have meet many Bloggers there.

Alamak, another rally again on 12 July?

Why they never learn from Gilbert hah?

Gilbert's PWP rally at HLP in Feb 2013 had the biggest crowd, also in the thousands.

But his subsequent rallies attracted less and less people, until only a few hundred attended.

People can become rally tired, u know. More so when they realise that the only opposition which could win some seats in elections is still not ready to be govt, and also not interested in HLP rallies at all.

What is the stand of WP on the CPF minimum sum issue hah?

Did not hear them say anything leh. Or do they talk and shout only during election period?

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

Roy and his friends would need to up the ante in the next rally. It would be good if they could come up with some of the things they planned to do eg would it be possible to take the issue to court, local court or international court?

What more can the people do to get this issue thrashed and the people getting their money back?
