Taking AIM into the wilderness

The AIM saga is not going to go away. First impression, if it counts, is that it is in muddy waters. There are so many things that the general public do not think were right and the stench is getting foul as the days go by.

On the PAP side, several efforts were made by Teo Ho Pin, Chandra Das and a minister in Grace Fu to explain that everything is in order. Unfortunately the explanations only helped to muddy the water even more and people listening to the explanations are getting exasperated. It is something that cannot be explained away. It is like the proverbial elephant that is too big to be covered up.

Three presidential candidates in the last Presidential Election have all chipped in to air their dissatisfaction over the whole saga. This can only mean that they were in agreement that something is not right. The only presidential candidate that became the President has yet to say anything. Perhaps he disagrees with the other three and did not see anything wrong with the AIM. Until the President speaks, no one would know what he is thinking and his position on this matter. Maybe it is a matter that should not involve the President.

What would be the likely outcome of this episode? So far the official explanation is not cutting any ice. Could more explanations help, or it is already a failed cause? If this is a failed cause, how would it affect the PAP’s standing and its performance in the next GE?

Or would the PAP bite the bullet, conduct an inquiry and sacrifice a few heads to redeem itself? I wrote this yesterday and this morning read the papers that Hsien Loong has called for an inquiry. After the last GE a few ministerial heads rolled. Would this episode lead to similar results?

As I said in my first posting on this subject, Teo Ho Pin’s explanation will have great consequences to the eventual outcome of this episode. What the public have been told so far is that public money was spent to develop a management programme and this is sold to AIM which is a PAP organisation. And AIM is making money by charging a fee to the Town Councils, and the people are paying for it. Is this the right perception?

If an inquiry is called, it shows that the higher up does not know the transaction. You guys are too fast to point the finger lor. Give people benefit of doubt before you pull the trigger.

Before careful someone sues you. It is not an inquiry. Only a review. An inquiry implies something is wrong. The SMRT inquiry. The TC review.

A review can be to take another look and confirm that everything is ok.

Hope this is not another wayang wayang before the by-election. Obviously, the explanation so far sucks big time. Victory to the people. PAP-0 Sinkies - 1

TAN Kin Lian the president wannabe has spoken.
TAN Jee Say the president wannabe has spoken.
TAN Cheng Bock the president wannabe has spoken.
TAN Tony the president has not spoken.
Ex-president NaThAN has not spoken.

You want them to speak - you have to TAN.

TAN koo koo, that is, wait long long.

The three who spoke are not paid.

Bcos they are not paid, there is nothing to lose.
The Incumbent President gets to keep the his lucrative income to function as a decorative piece, why should he bothers. And not to forget, his many roles in the past were just as controversial as Aimgate.
His Son's National Service, Losses on/in investments when he headed GIC etc are still very much on the minds of many. They are archived just as much in Blogoland.

When his past is still baffling, how to expect him(President) to look into others affairs as bafflings as his own?

If the PAP MPs and ex-MP who defended AIM were right, why should LHL initiate an investigation now? The simple truth is that the bleeding PAP arse is too wide to be covered up now.

Attempting to come clean and transparent at this point is a bad reflection on the PM and the PAP. PM should have taken action right from the start. Such dilly dallying amounts to hoping that the scandal will die down eventually and be swept under the carpet. Sadly, in this internet age the PAP is not the sole dispenser of sanitized news as in the past decades through the MSM.

I am sure people will now be asking - what other entities controlled by the PAP besides this TC stink, has skeletons in their cupboards that have still not been revealed?

Guys, wait for the review lar then comment can or not. One simply can not blame the pm when something goes wrong. It's like hsbc kena fine for money laundry in the US, u can say the CEO is responsible for hsbc but u can not say he did it mah

If you want to start talking cock, can you please post some where else ?

Redbean's post is for intellect not simpleton cuckoo like you.

just to show how gullible you are.
A inquiry does not mean that higher up does not know anything in transaction, especially not in context of SinCity where PAP's political influence and behaviour is so dominating.

This saga smells like a 2 day old bucket of fish guts left out in the hot sun, as far as conflict of interest is concerned.

Of course there is conflict of interest. Anyone with a marginally functioning brain can see that.

However, this is the way things are done in Asia -- "quan xi" is but the "kampung spirit" operating at a higher level. And as we know cooperation can be used by both moral and immoral groups of people.

I say, let's see what transpires from LHL's inquiry.

Frankly I'm fine with supposed "conflicts of interest" a long as the results are good, and my favourite hotel keeps on rocking awesomely (which, last I checked, it does).

I'm ok with corruption in government. As long as things get done, it's all cool. In other Asian cuntrees, corruption is part of the culture. For e.g. in Thailand, people lie and scam all the time. But things get done, and the place rocks awesomely.

Take a chill pill. Relax.

Got anger management? (write a software package, sell to taxpayers)

Read some ex-spurt scientific opinion. New book.

Can you blame human nature? Only to a point. Sure, you can argue, "people must take responsibility"...but what happens if they don't? What you gonna do then?

Too late.

Human nature comes from the human mind which is an emergent property of on-going processes of of the human brain.

i.e. "You are your brain".

@anon 517

quan xi, guan xi whatever. I am no pinyin user so I could well be wrong.

I'm talking about the Asian style of "networking" "relationships" -- cooperation, often with collusion and corruption to achieve "the big pay off".

Asia is run by crony capitalism and crony politics.

Locals -- get used to it. Or fuck off to Scandinavia and live "perfect" lives in "perfect" democracy with "perfectly" transparent governments, "perfect" public institutions like medical care and education and a 70-90% tax rate ;-)

@ anon 1142:

Aiya, why so impatient? Let the No. 1 Son have his enquiry lah. Watch the fuckers all run for cover, stat hiring lawyers and issusing all sorts of bullshit statements.

Can you imagine the traffic on the S'pore blogs during/ after the enquiry? How many people you think will be "less satisfied" and even more pissed off?

They want rope? Give them rope -- as much as they like.

You got no evil strategic mind like me lah. :-)

Remember, I get paid to manipulate people's emotions. I'm a very calculating guy ;-)

Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️ said...

redbean: Not serious lah. Just some arsehole who is making indirect threats about settling matters of pure discussion in court.

This here is free speech. Once it goes into court, no longer free speech. The court will decide and DECREE what type of speech it is and administer justice accordingly, and often in these matters it is a travesty of justice and a joke of the law.

Fuck this guy. Yu reckon your cuntree is going down the shitter? Well its people like this who empower the govt by deciding that going to court is the best way, and thereby adding to even more control over the people.

No, in the grans scheme of things it is not serious. But I thought I'd just fuck him anyway ;-)
